RITCO embraces digital payments for intercity travel

Rwanda Inter-link Transport Cooperative (RITCO) has partnered with Centrika to digitize its ticketing and payment systems, making intercity bus travel more convenient and efficient for passengers across Rwanda.
The partnership brings Centrika's digital payment infrastructure to RITCO's extensive network of intercity bus routes, allowing passengers to purchase tickets electronically through kiosks, mobile apps, and authorized agents rather than relying on cash transactions.
"Moving to digital ticketing is an important step for RITCO," said the cooperative's Managing Director. "It improves our operational efficiency, reduces fraud, and gives our passengers a modern travel experience."
The implementation includes the deployment of Centrika's TiCQet platform at major bus terminals across the country, enabling real-time seat availability checks, advance booking, and electronic ticket validation at boarding points.
Initial deployment data shows a 40% reduction in boarding times and a significant decrease in revenue leakage since the system went live.
